Victoria House is a mixed use development in Shenton Park led by Hesperia and delivered in conjunction with MJA Architects (Apartments), Palassis Architects (Heritage Consultant) and Place Laboratory (Landscape)
FINESPUN were engaged very early in the process to assist with the complex care of the former Shenton Park Rehabilition Hospital built in 1938, designed by architect A.E Clare. This included approval from heritage authorities, forward works packages and demolition works to make way for the new build apartments.
With detailed research from Palassis Architects, the intent of our adaptive re-use work was to remove non-original and intrusive elements, take care of the existing building fabric and reinstate original fabric lost from previous alterations and additions.
To make way for the new life, the interior of the building was opened up to break down the typical hospital corridors and wards to increase the functionality of the internal spaces. The goal was to reinforce the original architects design intent for increased access to light, air and nature to promote healing and health.
