Surfday

Scarborough Beach El Grotto

Sunday is now officially Surfday. The weekdays are oh so busy and although ive tried to fit in beach visits during the working week it just didnt work. So ive changed the name of Sunday to Surfday (by the way im very bad at surfing but love it all the same).

The MRA have taken control of the Scarborough area, and as their slogan says 'a change is in the air'. This area is in serious need of not only a physical makeover but an emotional and cultural renewal to attract more people (especially Perth locals) into the zone. I really appreciate what the MRA has achieved in other areas and hope they achieve what they set out to do and it doesnt end up in the same pile as the East Perth Power Station. Whatever happened to that?

More info here - In any case, it will be great to come out of the surf, shake your dreadlocks enjoy a cold beer, a taco or fine tequila at El Grotto. These guys alone should bring the life back to Scarborough!

North Fremantle Town Hall

After a few months of being shipwrecked we are back to business at Nth Fremantle and tracking for a Spiring / Summer opening! We even managed to salvage the anchor - rumour has it, this 6 tonne steel beast will be used to anchor the land mass of W.A. to avoid getting blown into New Zealand.

Seriously though, get excited as there are two separate venues planned here - Guild Hall (Small Bar) and PropellEr (Restaurant) with the Town Hall remaining untouched. Even more reason for those shy people in Fremantle to burst past the bubble and venture across the river......

Holler for Artists

Are you an emerging WA artist and keen on public exposure ( ….not that kind, you dirty thing)

We are keen on adding to artistic fabric of Maylands and have a high exposure shopfront and a great opportunity for WA artists to temporarily exhibit your work.

We offer our shopfront (free of charge) to any WA artist willing to install, hang, paint or stick their work on the two large glass panels or inside behind the glass. The glass area is 3.0m x 1.7m high and is viewed by hundreds of people everyday - pedestrians, train and car passengers. The medium can be anything that is temporary and easily removable.

If you think this would be great exposure and great for the Maylands area please send through your expression of interest to michelle@finespun.com.au or come down and talk to us during business hours, or if you know someone with talent send them this FLYER.
