Ive always been a big fan of the North Street Store - unpretentious space with a fitout that was hand moulded by the owners. It just goes to show you, whilst fitout is important, its your service and product which people return to which make a successful venue.
Ive had the fortunate pleasure of getting to know Craig and Lachie this last year, they're good honest unpretentious folk (just like their food) with a slight socialist agenda which pleased me even more. Ive been helping them wade through the NIMBYism at the Cottesloe store and now a recent approval of a new venture down in our old favorite North Fremantle for Big Loaf ( bigloaf.com.au ) At the City of Fremantle Council meeting, there was very valid concern from adjoining residents and business owners on this proposal. The genuine concerns were targeted at parking (and lack of) in North Fremantle which has become a successful destination village.
Which in itself is ironic. The parking problem is an issue we helped create with the introduction of several venues; Mrs Brown, Flipside, Propellor and Guild Hall into the village - damn you FINESPUN you bloody wanker.
On a serious note, we will do our best to ensure this new addition feels just at home as the other venues.
